Heckle is Scotland’s republican socialist magazine.

Established by the Republican Socialist Platform in 2022, we are democratically-run by an editorial board of up to seven members, elected annually by the RSP membership.

We publish articles and videos about Scottish and international politics and culture from a republican socialist perspective, placing particular emphasis on the central importance of working-class struggles from below for emancipation, liberation and self-determination.

We aim to encourage strategic thinking on the left by providing useful information and facilitating debate among all those involved in Scotland’s trade unions, political organisations and social movements.

We embrace the widest possible understanding of class struggle, which we see expressed not only in political and economic terms but also socially and through arts and culture.

Our contributors are a mix of professional journalists and volunteers, many of whom are not members of the RSP. We warmly welcome pitches from writers and artists. We also seek to build strong relationships and exchange content with similar publications in other countries.

We are proudly among more than 150 organisations in Scotland which have endorsed the Palestinian campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI).
